NEW BLACK BELTS
A very big congratulations to our 6 students who attempted the black belt grading on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd June. Their very hard work & dedictation was justly rewarded and all passed to be awarded a 1st dan black belt. Congratulations to cadets Chloe Ward & Chloe Ali (Both 11yrs), and adults Gary Ward, Steve Eccleston, Elizabeth Rideway & Martin Boler.
SUMMER SHOWS
Saturday 12th July at the CDYST & Saturday 19th July Handsworth Recreation ground.
We will be at both shows with a stand. If you would like to join us to help promote our club & have some fun, please let us know so I can give you further details. The CDYST show begins at 2pm, we are in the hall & will be doing a few demonstrations (nothing too complicated). The Handsworth show starts around 10.30am (no demonstrations)
Both shows will be packed with fun, stalls, clowns, bouncy castles etc & should provide an enjoyable day out.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENTS...
...who competed in the SKU national kumite competition at Ponds Forge on Sun 4th May.
Every one competed very well and deserves much praise for their spirit.
A special mention for Alan Ali (Handsworth)1st place, Nathan Broadhurst (Bankwood) 3rd place, Luke Spooner (Handsworth) 3rd place, Callam Dale (Handsworth) 3rd place, Matthew Goodwin (CDYST) 3rd place.

SKU VOLUME 2 KATA DVD
Just to let you know the latest volume 2 kata DVD is now available. It comprises
of all the brown belt katas complete with bunkai (attacks & defences)
performed by our Chief instructor, Stan Knighton,
in normal & slow speeds
You can order one online here & we will
pick them up for you saving the postage & packing.
Volume 1 with the Red to Purple belt Kata's is also available
Volume 3 with black belt Kata's is due to follow soon

Our private self defence courses are designed for anyone who is wanting to improve their confidence both mentally & physically whilst out & about in normal day to day living.
Private Karate Lessons
1 to 1 Private lessons are available in our home dojo during weekdays & weekends.
We have a budget rate between the hours of 10am - 4pm on weekdays

2008 GASHUKU
The week long 2008 Gashuku (training week) will be held in Ibiza from Sunday 25th May. This Gashuku has a different perspective as it is a family one where you will be able to holiday with your family members whilst participating in the Karate training, which is open to SKU students at all grades & ages. Further details will be sent to by the SKU you shortly.
New Black Belt
Congratulations to our most senior member, Jim Bowie, who was awarded black belt status after performing at the SKU Dan gradings on Sunday 11th December. Jim is one of our founder members and has been justly rewarded for his persistance in training. A very big well done. Click on images below.

SENSEI DAVES MASSAGE THERAPY
As some of you have experienced in the past, Sensei Dave has used his massage
experience to help when muscular problems have occurred, now after many years
& requests, SD now has an official qualification to practice massage therapy
and is starting a mobile practice on the 29th of October. Services include,
remedial massage to problem areas, sports massage, full body relaxation massage.
Any of our members using the service will get a discounted rate. SD is also
operating a gift voucher service so you can buy someone a massage as a present.

Sheffield Kata Competition Sunday 29th July 2007 at the EIS
Well done to all our students that competed. In total we gained 10 gold medals for 1st places

and passed with flying colours. Diane has been dedicated and has worked extremely hard over the past months and as a result,

KATA COMPETITION 11th February 2006

We are often asked questions such as : whens my next grading ? : how many
lessons have I had ?: do I owe anything ?
You can now find the answers online by access from our members page to the
karate register. All you need to do is go to our members page & then go
on the club register link.
To keep the information private, we have allocated everyone a club number,
if you email or call us we will give you your club number.
The register will be updated every week.
Please note this is for a trial period, if you register your interest we will
keep it a permanent feature.
We are also open to any suggestions
COMPETITION SUNDAY 19TH NOVEMBER 2006 PONDS FORGE
Congratulations to our Students who entered the competition. Everyone performed
very well with Joanne Blakey and Georgina Cornelius gettng Gold cups for 1st
place and Danielle Holmes getting a bronze cup for 3rd place in the Kata
section.A Very big well done to them all.
2007 GASHUKU
The Gashuku is an annual training week held in June in a hot European location. Students 18yrs and over
green belt and above can attend this supreme training event. Please ask if you are interested in going on 2007 Gashuku.

9th KYU (Red belt) Leaflets
The first leaflet compiled by our Chief Instructor is now available. It illustrates in fine photo detail
how to perform the Shihozuki (Cross Kata) and the 9th KYU Red Belt Syllabus. Leaflets are
available at £2 each.
